What is a Fanzine?

Fanzines are amateur magazines about science fiction and related genres such as fantasy and horror.  Historically, fanzines have been the core of fandom that in turn is the core of science fiction and also the source of its popularity with the American reading public.

Fornax is one of the most widelly read fanzines around.  Several of the leading fan writers including Robin Bright, Gerd Maximovic and John Purcell have written for the fanzine.  If you want to peruse any of the back issues of the fanzine, here is the link to its listing at


Writer's Guidelines

 If you want to write for Fornax, please send email submissions to crectorATgmxDOTcom, with a maximum length of 25,000 words. The same length requirement applies to fiction submissions as well.  Fornax is open to original Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror.  It is open to all sub-genres as well as all styles and topics.  Reprints and Simultaneous Submissions are fine  as long as they are identified as such.    Novel excerpts are fine as long as they read like a self-contained story. No poetry or artwork please.  Please submit your work in the form of text in the email. There is no payment other than the exposure that you will get as a writer. Of course, Letters of Comment are always welcome. Material not written or produced by the Editor/Publisher is printed by permission of the various writers and artists and is copyright by them and remains their sole property and reverts to them after publication.  The goal is for quarterly publication plus an annual Halloween issue.
